Brenda Maier is a native of Tulsa and a gifted education specialist for Union Public Schools. As a child, she had 6 picture books; today she has a much larger collection, but it’s still not enough. Brenda’s debut picture book, The Little Red Fort (Scholastic Press, 2018), has been placed on numerous lists, a few of which are the 2019 Texas 2×2 Recommended Reading List, The Tennessee State Book Award Nominee list, and The 2019-2020 Florida Sunshine State Young Readers List. Her sparkly second book, Peeping Beauty (Aladdin/Simon & Schuster, 2019) released in spring of 2019 to lovely reviews.
About The Little Red Fort
Ruby’s mind is always full of ideas.
One day, she finds some old boards and decides to build something. She invites her brothers to help, but they just laugh and tell her she doesn’t know how to build.
“Then I’ll learn,” she says.
And she does!
When she creates a dazzling fort that they all want to play in, it is Ruby who has the last laugh.
With sprightly text and winsome pictures, this modern spin on the timeless favorite The Little Red Hen celebrates the pluck and ingenuity of young creators everywhere!
