Michael J. Hightower, former president of Council Oak Books in Tulsa and communications director for the Tulsa Metro Chamber, taught Sociology at the University of Virginia before launching his career as an independent historian and biographer. He has written seven books, including the two-volume Banking in Oklahoma, and served as historian for the 89er Trail in downtown Oklahoma City.
